Sheehy Auto Stores Expands in Maryland
Sheehy Auto Stores recently acquired the Maryland dealerships of Bill Kidd’s Timonium Toyota and Bill Kidd’s Volvo Cars. The Toyota dealership is located in Timonium, MD and the Volvo dealership is in nearby Hunt Valley, MD.
Sheehy Auto Stores was ranked 33rd on Automotive News Top 150 dealership group list for 2024, with $2.2B in revenue in 2023 from the sale of approximately 46,000 new and used vehicles. With the purchase of the Bill Kidd Toyota and Volvo stores, Sheehy owns 29 dealerships in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC. The dealerships will be rebranded as Sheehy Toyota Timonium and Sheehy Volvo Cars Hunt Valley.
Bill Kidd’s Timonium Toyota and Bill Kidd’s Volvo Cars first opened in 1973. The Toyota dealership sells approximately 1,500 new Toyotas per year and has earned Toyota’s coveted President’s Award 15 times, an award only bestowed on Toyota dealerships that excel in every area of operations. Together, the dealerships occupy over 12 acres of land and use more than 70,000 square feet of building space.
Haig Partners advised the families of Charlie and Peter Fenwick, Bill Kidd and his daughter Lisa Kidd on the sale.

Pedens Buy Three Dealerships on Ohio, West Virginia Border
Richard Nourse has sold three dealerships located on the border of Ohio and West Virginia.
Pioneer Chevrolet and Family Ford Lincoln both in Marietta, OH and Pioneer Honda of Parkersburg, WV, were sold to Thomas and Ashley Peden in a deal brokers by Tim Lamb Group.
Pioneer Honda of Parkersburg will be named Parkersburg Honda and Family Ford Lincoln will change the name to Pioneer Ford Lincoln. Pioneer Chevrolet will keep its name.
With the sale of three dealerships, Nourse will focus his efforts on his remaining five dealerships which include the Ford, Honda, Lincoln, Nissan, and Toyota brands that are all situated in Chillicothe, OH.
“I hadn’t contemplated selling, but when I was presented with the opportunity to sell to the Pedens I really had to consider it,” stated Nourse. “I knew they would be great stewards to continue what we have built in the community.”
Thomas Peden II, a native of West Virginia and a third-generation car dealer, purchased his first two dealerships in Zanesville, OH in June 2020. Thomas brought his sister Ashley in to run his Zanesville Honda Toyota dealerships in 2020 and is now a partner in his latest endeavor.
Keating Auto Group Purchases Houston Chevrolet Dealership
Buckalew Chevrolet has been sold to Keating Auto Group, ranked 17th in Automotive News’ Top 150 Dealership Group list. The dealership has been renamed to Keating Chevrolet.
Buckalew Chevrolet was founded by Don A. Buckalew and his partner in 1965 and has been a cornerstone of the Conroe, TX community for nearly 60 years. The dealership is known for supporting numerous local organizations, including schools, sports leagues, churches and non-profits throughout Montgomery County. Don’s sons, Donnie and Denny Buckalew, took over management and ownership of the dealership over the last decade, growing operations to become the 17th highest volume Chevrolet dealership in the state of Texas.
Buckalew Chevrolet was advised by Kerrigan Advisors, the 19th Texas franchise sold since 2023 that Kerrigan was involved with. Kerrigan Advisors leads the Houston buy/sell market, having represented on the sale of 11 franchises in the market in the last 18 months.
“The Kerrigan Advisors team managed every step of the sale process for us to ensure all of our goals were achieved in this once-in-a-generation milestone for our family,” said Donnie Buckalew. “Kerrigan’s guidance and deep knowledge of the Texas buyer community were invaluable to me and my brother. We could not have done it without them.”
Lincoln Dealership in Florida Closes
Gettel Lincoln in Punta Gorda, FL, has closed.
For more than 30 years, Gettel opened dealerships in 20 locations, coupled with 15 manufacturers from Punta Gorda to Georgia.
Since 2017, Gettel Automotive has been in Punta Gorda with dealerships clustered on U.S. 41 selling new, pre-owned and hybrid vehicles including Buick, GMC, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram.
“We can still do service work for Lincolns, other than the warranty work,” said Bill Finocchiaro, general manager of Gettel Toyota Charlotte County in a published story. “We can do maintenance and sales. All of the employees and sales people have jobs at our other Gettel locations.”
