I have been in the Lot Services space since 2004, shooting photos and managing inventory for auto dealers. For the last several years we have been working on a video solution for that space. This includes segmented video, photo sequences, music, voice over and interior view360. Umm…so what? There are lots of people with even more technical credentials out there. And like all those people, I think a lot about the Holy Grail of video: reducing the time to shoot, edit and upload, shorten the learning curve, make it a highly duplicable process and using equipment that dealers already have.
Impossible? Maybe. Difficult? Certainly. Only the geniuses at the big companies can find a solution, right? Let’s discuss…6 years ago I received a phone call from a friend Jim Plankey asking me what I thought of providing a video solution for auto dealers? My answer was Hell Yes. Dealers need this and better yet the customer base will value it tremendously. He asked me, is anyone providing this? Well, No not really.
We began to assemble a team of programmers to put our solution together. We decided to develop an app for smartphones using equipment that already existed and was in the hands of nearly everyone in the car business. The interesting thing is there had not been many advancements in the last 10 years in the online merchandising space for dealers. You know how it is, dealers have photos of their inventory so then companies try to come up with a video solution but it is a slide show and they call it video. THAT’S NOT VIDEO!
Notice how I said “try.” Because the truth is, every single dealer that has a slide show format thinks they have a video solution but, the online shoppers know they don’t and true video is what they are looking for.
In this session at the upcoming dealer conference (Digital Dealer 22 this April), I will cover 3 Common Video Pain Points Holding You Back at your dealership.
They are:
- We don’t have the Time to shoot video
- We don’t have the Qualified People to shoot the video
- We don’t have the Expensive Equipment to shoot video
- Bonus Material
- Personal Branding for Sales
So, it is clear to us, if a dealer was to market their inventory in a more accurate, pleasing manor that would engage their customers…That would be the right thing to do. Now let’s learn how we can market vehicles with video and achieve the Holy Grail: reducing the time to shoot, edit and upload, shorten the learning curve, highly duplicable and using equipment that dealers already have.
Join me at the dealer conference this April in Tampa where I’ll share how you can create video and use it to retain salespeople, showcase new and used inventory online, and to craft more individualized and relevant lead response.
