Auburn Hills, Mich. –Chrysler Group LLC will conduct a voluntary safety recall of approximately 471 U.S.-market 2012 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans to inspect and, if necessary, replace the right-side power liftgate anti-pinch sensor.
The action stems from an internal quality audit that discovered three vehicles whose sensors generated closing-force outside the prescribed range before reopening the liftgate.Risk was isolated to a small batch of parts and Chrysler Group LLC is not aware of any related accidents or injuries. The anomaly was traced to a supplier component and corrected.“These mechanisms are engineered with exacting precision and we expect them to function accordingly; that’s why we are continually monitoring their performance,” said David Dillon, Head of Product Investigation and Campaigns, Chrysler Group LLC.
