Dealership Expands Footprint to Accommodate Growth
CLARKSTON, MICH. – Bowman Chevrolet, one of the fastest growing Chevrolet dealerships in Michigan, recently purchased the two properties adjacent to its main store at 6750 Dixie Highway, in Clarkston, adding nearly two acres to its footprint. The additional property will help the Chevrolet dealer accommodate current sales levels and anticipated growth in sales and service.
The additional property south of the dealership will allow Bowman Chevrolet to expand its new vehicle display area. The building to the north of the dealership will house the used car sales center and display area, a larger dedicated internet sales area, and additional office space.
Bowman Chevrolet’s commercial truck division will move across the street to the current used car location at 6725 Dixie Highway.
Bowman Chevrolet has been a staple of the Clarkston Community for more than 30 years. In 1984, John Bowman purchased what became Bowman Chevrolet. In 2002, Bowman’s daughter, Katie Bowman Coleman, was named vice president, and in 2011 she became owner and president of the dealership.
“This expansion exemplifies the strength of the Bowman brand and signifies future growth,” said Bowman Coleman. “Our team is selling an average of 400 vehicles each month, and we’re busting at the seams,” she said. “With the fantastic line-up of new Chevrolet vehicles such as the 2018 Traverse and Equinox, we’ve had to hired more sales staff and increase inventory to accommodate customers. We needed more room to continue to improve our customer experience, and fortunately these two properties became available,” she said.
The cost of the new properties totaled just over $1.5 million. The dealership anticipates renovations will begin in early 2018, and will be working with H & S Contractors, Inc. and Hutchinson’s Electric, Inc.
New-car sales at Bowman Chevrolet have almost tripled since 2012. Last year, the dealership sold more than 2,800 new vehicles, and has been ranked in the top 20 Chevrolet dealerships in the country for the past eight months.
