BMW Recalls 140,000 More 3 Series for Faulty Takata Airbags, from Auto Evolution.
When BMW finally decided to post a recall for the Takata airbags installed on their 3 Series, the world was stunned to learn that almost every E46 car made had to take a trip to its local dealership. This was the biggest recall the German company ever made. Until today, that is.
Apart from the 1.6 million cars that have been summoned back to an authorized dealership, the company is now calling back another 140,000 vehicles that have potentially faulty driver-side airbags. The announcement was made after BMW worked closely with the NHTSA.
The new recall campaign now includes MY2004 to MY2006 3 Series models built between January 2004 and August 2006. However, the company did specify that no cases of malfunctioning were reported so far but they decided to replace them anyway, before anyone gets hurt.
