According to The Detroit News, auto dealers group says Tesla is making false advertising claims.
The California New Car Dealers Association asked the state Department of Motor Vehicles to investigate Tesla Motors advertising practices that it claims “deceive consumers by making unsubstantiated and illegal savings claims in violation of several state and federal laws.”
The auto dealers group said it had documented numerous examples of Tesla’s “disregard for the laws created to protect consumers” and calls the Palo Alto, Calif.-based electric vehicle startup’s practices illegal.
The group said its “analysis exposes the company’s misleading claims that customers can take advantage of multiple incentives, gas savings, and tax savings resulting in low monthly vehicle payments, when it is unlikely that customers will actually realize such savings.”
