‘iOS in the Car’ debuts with iOS 7 from Apple, according to AutoGuide.
Dubbed iOS in the Car, the newest version of iOS will expand on the already available functionality to also incorporate phone calls, maps, directions, and sending and receiving iMessages through your vehicle’s infotainment system. And of course, everything will have Siri integration for hands-free access and control.
Essentially, Apple is looking to take over your infotainment system by utilizing iOS through the interface, allowing you to do virtually all the same tools available on your smartphone through your vehicle. The Cupertino-based giant has already teamed up with several automakers that will work to integrate iOS in the Car by 2014: Honda, Mercedes, Nissan, Ferrari, Chevy, Infiniti, Kia, Hyundai, Volvo, and Jaguar.
