Owner & Dealer PrincipalBob Ruth Ford

Rob Ruth is the Owner and Dealer Principal of Bob Ruth Ford, a family-owned dealership that has built a remarkably high-volume automotive operation in the small community of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania.

What makes Bob Ruth Ford unique isn’t just the number of vehicles the dealership sells—it’s how they have built their business around used vehicles and a strong commitment to buying cars directly from the public. In a town of only about 2,700 people, Bob Ruth Ford sells more than 400 vehicles a month, with an extraordinary 8-to-1 ratio of used-car sales to new-car sales.

A major part of that success is the dealership’s Buying Center, which has become a significant part of the business and a key source of inventory. Today, Bob Ruth Ford is purchasing more than 300 vehicles every month directly from the public.

Rob’s experience has given him a unique perspective on how a dealership can create a successful buying operation, generate inventory outside of traditional trade-ins and auctions, and build a reputation in the community as a place where consumers can easily sell their vehicles.

At his core, Rob is passionate about sharing what he has learned along the way—what has worked, what hasn’t, and how the Buying Center has helped Bob Ruth Ford build an unconventional but highly successful automotive business.

The old used-car acquisition playbook is no longer enough. Auctions are more competitive, margins are tighter, and the best inventory may never enter a traditional wholesale lane. So where will tomorrow’s used vehicles come from—and what must dealers do differently to acquire them profitably?

In this candid, live conversation, learn how a dealer team built a used-car acquisition machine that now purchases hundreds of vehicles directly from consumers each month. This will not be a polished presentation filled with theories. The conversation will dig into the real operation: the people, processes, technology, marketing, economics, mistakes, and leadership decisions behind the dealership's success.

Attendees will leave with practical insights they can use to strengthen their acquisition strategy, reduce their dependence on auctions, and build a more predictable pipeline of profitable used inventory.

Key Takeaways:

  • Build a repeatable, scalable process for acquiring vehicles directly from consumers instead of relying primarily on auctions and trades
  • Identify the people, marketing, technology, and operational structure required to create a high-performing vehicle-buying center
  • Evaluate acquisition opportunities based on true all-in cost, speed to market, inventory needs, and potential profitability—not simply the purchase price
