Ford Partners with Amazon Autos to Offer Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles Online

Ford is teaming up with Amazon to bring its certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles to the digital marketplace, offering customers a new way to browse, finance, and purchase used cars and trucks with the convenience of an online platform. Through Amazon Autos, customers can now shop for thousands of Ford Blue Advantage certified vehicles from participating local dealers, combining the trust of a manufacturer-backed warranty with the ease of online shopping.

Moving the Car Purchasing Process Online

The partnership allows customers to search for vehicles within a 75-mile radius, filter by make, model, and other criteria, and view transparent, itemized pricing and vehicle history reports. Once a vehicle is selected, buyers can secure financing through various lenders and schedule a pickup time at their local Ford dealership. This streamlined process aims to simplify the initial steps of car buying, allowing dealers to focus on the final in-person experience and building customer relationships.

To meet a range of customer needs and budgets, Ford offers three distinct levels of certification under its Ford Blue Advantage program.

  • Gold Certified: These vehicles undergo a rigorous 172-point inspection and come with a 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty that covers over 1,000 components.
  • EV Certified: Electric vehicles receive a specialized 127-point inspection and include a 12-month/12,000-mile comprehensive limited warranty.
  • Blue Certified: This tier, which can include both Ford and other manufacturers’ vehicles, features a 90-day/4,000-mile limited warranty.

Each certification level includes roadside assistance, providing an extra layer of security for buyers. Furthermore, all CPO vehicles sold through Amazon Autos come with a 14-day/1,000-mile money-back guarantee, offering added confidence in the online purchasing process.

Partnering with Ford Dealers

For Ford dealers, Amazon hopes this collaboration will open a new digital channel to showcase their CPO inventory to millions of new customers. Dealers retain control over crucial aspects of the transaction, including pricing, vehicle delivery, and ongoing service relationships.

The program is launching initially in Los Angeles, Seattle, Houston and Dallas, with plans to expand to additional cities in the coming months. The move continues to strengthen Amazon’s online offerings, building on existing deals with Hyundai and Hertz. It follows a broader industry trend toward digital retailing, aiming to make the car-buying process more transparent and customer-friendly while preserving the vital role of the local dealership.
