From Business to Community: What’s better, email or social media?
Much like the egg-chicken debate, marketers can argue until they’re blue in the face about whether email marketing or social media marketing is more effective for brands. Each certainly has a long list of benefits.
Social is the hot new tool, and the abundance of new platforms means marketers are constantly coming up with new ways to reach their followers on these sites. Email, on the other hand, dates back to the 1960s, giving it the confidence that comes with an established practice. So, which is better for your business?
Both, of course. Saying one is better than the other is akin to saying your Louboutin stilettos are better than your Ugg slippers. The two serve entirely different purposes, so it makes no sense to judge them on the same standards. You need social to reach your target customers and pique their interest, and you need email to nurture those customers into conversions (i.e. buy what you’re selling).
Here’s more info to convince you (and your boss) that email and social media strategies work best together, not competing against each other.
