Digital Dealer.com, a leading brand in the automotive industry has hired James Hickey as the new managing editor at Digital Dealer, a brand owned and operated by Emerald, the nation’s leading tradeshow company announced.
With a wealth of experience and a deep track record in both journalism and editorial brand management, Hickey is poised to play a pivotal role in Digital Dealer’s editorial strategy and working with stakeholders to spearhead a range of new editorial initiatives.
William Gannon, SVP and Editor-in-Chief at Emerald, notes that Hickey brings 30 years of editorial experience including stops with business-to-business magazines, sports, and local and national political reporting.

Hickey’s most recent venture was the founding of North-JerseyNews.com where he was editor-in-chief for the independent online publication that covered both state and national politics for the residents of Northern New Jersey.
Prior to that, he was managing editor of The Food Institute. During his time there, he reported and edited stories that covered the business side of the food industry, from farm to fork.
Hickey said he is eager to work with the Digital Dealer and Emerald team, especially DD’s Show Director Alissa Calvaruso, as well as experts in the industry, to inform the loyal readers of Digital Dealer.
“We want to offer a daily reason for auto dealers to come to our site,” said Hickey. “We are looking to build on the legacy of Dealer Magazine, providing not just the news of the day that is important to dealers but from leaders offering their ideas about best practices and thoughts on the current state of the industry.”
