A trend in its infancy: A few new-car dealers now offer full line of property coverage, from Omaha.com.
Most of the time, buying a car and buying insurance for your car or other property are separate transactions.
But a few Midlands new-car dealers are adding a separate — but related, they say — business to their lineup of sedans, SUVs and pickups: Coverage not only for that new vehicle but for your home, boat and diamond rings as well.
It’s a trend in its infancy and so far fairly slow to catch on, said Loy Todd, president of the Nebraska New Car and Truck Dealers Association.
“It’s something we’re seeing nationally with a handful of dealers,” Todd said. “It’s certainly not a common practice. It’s more of an experiment, as far as we can tell.”
