Madison, Ind. – The new Elektron® Multispot MI-100control T squeeze-type resistance spot welder features the industry’s lightest transformer pliers, longest lightweight cables and highest welding current, enabling technicians to properly spot weld high-strength steels, even in hard-to-reach areas, without sacrificing comfort.
Standard equipment for the Multispot MI-100control T includes the MTX-4900 high-performance transformer pliers which are 25 percent lighter and 40 percent smaller than any other trans-gun pliers available. These X-pliers provide greater access to more repair areas on a vehicle than bulky C-pliers. The MI-100control T also comes equipped with lightweight 18-foot cables instead of typical eight-foot cables. These design features combine to provide a more ergonomic welding solution, so technicians can work more efficiently.
“The Multispot MI-100control T was designed specifically for spot welding structural body damage to areas manufactured with high-strength and advanced high-strength steels including Boron, USIBOR, TRIP, TWIP and XIP. Repairing these metals is challenging today’s collision repair technicians, especially those who don’t have the right equipment to do so,” says Timothy Morgan, managing director, Americas, for Elektron Inc. “Properly spot welding these metals requires more power than many older welders can provide. That’s why we’ve designed the MI-100control T to deliver an impressive 14,000 amps at the tips with just a 32 A fuse. It also has a high electrode squeeze pressure of over 900 psi to forge a very strong weld.”
As with all the welders in the Elektron Control line, the MI-100control T constantly measures impedance and automatically readjusts the welding parameters during the repair process, to ensure uniform quality from the first spot weld to the last. The welder detects and compensates for interference factors such as dirt, adhesives or protective coatings, as well as a change in materials. New to the MI-100control T, the controller also adjusts electrode pressure as needed.
The MI-100control T features an easy-to-use operator panel. Vehicle OEM and custom welding programs can be stored, and software updates for new vehicle models are easy to enter. Software is available to document and analyze logged weld data. For even greater versatility, shops can order cables as long as 32 feet for the MI-100control T as an option. Also available is an optional single-sided kit that automatically adjusts the welder to work within single-sided parameters for stud welding, dent pulling and single-sided welding applications.
