Amazon Autos Expands to Include Used and Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles

Published: August 4, 2025

Amazon Autos is widening its reach in the automotive market with the launch of used and certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicle listings. Starting in Los Angeles, this latest expansion allows customers to browse high-quality pre-owned cars and trucks listed by dealerships through the Amazon Autos platform, which is scheduled to expand to additional cities in the coming months.

This new service aims to bridge the gap between local dealerships and millions of Amazon shoppers.

“We look forward to bringing the convenience of Amazon Autos to used vehicle sales,” said Fan Jin, global leader of Amazon Autos. “This expansion is driven by strong interest from our dealer partners. By including certified pre-owned and used vehicles, we’re meeting dealer demand for broader online reach while offering customers a wider selection of high-quality vehicles to fit your budget and unique lifestyle needs.”

Opportunity for Both Dealers and Customers

The addition of used and CPO inventory marks a significant expansion for Amazon Autos, which initially launched in December 2024 to showcase new vehicles. This new program provides dealerships with a powerful online channel to connect with millions of Amazon shoppers.

“We’re excited to be an early participant in Amazon Autos’ expansion,” said Weslie Metcalf, managing partner of Premier Hyundai Moreno Valley in Moreno Valley, California. “We’re optimistic about the opportunity to showcase our used and certified pre-owned inventory through Amazon Autos. We believe this collaboration has the potential to help us reach more customers and enhance our online sales process. We look forward to growing with this new offering and exploring new ways to serve our customers.”

For customers, this addition translates to greater choices and security. Alongside transparent pricing and detailed vehicle history reports, every used or CPO vehicle comes with protections such as a 3-day/300-mile return policy and a minimum 30 day/1,000-mile limited warranty. Seamless integration with local dealerships also enables customers to schedule test drives effortlessly while experiencing the personal touch of visiting the dealership to finalize their purchase.

Initially focusing on select Hyundai dealerships, the program is set to grow as more dealers come on board. With intuitive filters, customers can conveniently browse both new and pre-owned vehicles available within a 75-mile radius. Whether it’s a new ride or a pre-owned option, Amazon Autos will help match shoppers with vehicles that suit their needs and budgets.

An Evolution of Automotive Retail

This expansion follows Amazon Autos’ initial success, which already connects dealerships in over 130 cities with a massive online audience.  By adding used and CPO options, the platform opens up opportunities for dealerships to market their full inventory to millions of Amazon users.

The move also comes as online vehicle sales gain traction within the automotive industry. By offering the initial phases of browsing and purchasing online, Amazon Autos enables dealerships to focus on delivering a memorable in-person experience, reinforcing loyalty and nurturing lasting customer relationships. It also lets the platform align with consumer demand for simplified, transparent shopping experiences.

As the platform continues its expansion, Amazon Autos’ entry into the used and CPO market underscores a growing shift in how vehicles are sold, providing customers with convenience and confidence while helping dealers access an unprecedented digital marketplace. This step signals a larger trend in integrating e-commerce innovation into traditional dealership operations, reshaping the future of automotive retail.

“This move continues our commitment to support local dealerships, said Jin. “Now connecting dealers with more prospective customers online across new, certified pre-owned, and used vehicle categories.”
