With the launch of eBay Motors iOS 2.0, eBay introduces a tailored experience of its popular eBay Motors application for the iPad and iPad Mini®, previously designed for the iPhone® alone, as well as a variety of new features.
The eBay Motors app for iOS, which recently hit one million downloads on iTunes, enables users to stay connected with their automotive passions anytime, anywhere, with features and functionality designed specifically with car enthusiasts in mind. Through the new universal app experience, users can access everything eBay Motors across iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices.
Once a user has downloaded the app for iPhone or iPad, it automatically appears on their other Apple devices. While the apps for iPad and iPhone have a similar look and feel, each has a unique experience and layout, adapted to the capabilities of each device. On the iPad app, an expanded screen displays an enhanced view, including: keyword search on the app’s home screen; a vehicle and parts Finder; a quick glance of vehicles for sale on eBay; content from the eBay Motors blog, videos and community, and more.
Through the app, users can access the vehicles they have parked in eBay Garage, eBay’s online community and personalization platform for car lovers, where drivers have saved more than 223,000 public profiles with images of their vehicles. Car fans can find merchandise for the vehicles saved in their eBay Garage, favorite other profiles, and search for videos and local automotive events. The eBay Motors app also fully supports My eBay, allowing users to view all of their eBay bidding, buying, watched items and other activities whether they are at home, in their garage, or on the go.
New Features Include:
- Enhanced View Item: The updated “View Item” screen now features larger, edge-to-edge images, which users can swipe through without leaving the page. The enhanced view also provides compatibility information for parts and accessories that match the vehicle being viewed.
- Revamped Search Results: iPad uses can switch between grid and list views for search results, and easily refine search results on the screen. In the list view, users can find details including price, time remaining for the bid, and more. Users can also save searches and access them later.
- Updated Community View: New to iOS 2.0, the community view appears in a dynamic, staggered grid layout, providing users with an engaging, highly visual presentation of the vehicles featured in eBay Garage.
More than 11,000 cars and 690,000 parts and accessories are sold each week through eBay mobile apps, as of May 2013. In 2012, eBay generated $13 billion through mobile devices, more than double than 2011. eBay expects to generate more than $20 billion in 2013.
