Welcome to the Dealer Communications & Digital Dealer Conference & Exposition blog!
We look forward to using this new blog to share ideas, strategies and news to our community of automotive friends across the world.
As crazy as it may seem it’s almost 2013, and before we know it we will be at the 14th Digital Dealer Conference & Exposition May 7-9 in Orlando, FL.
We have many new benefits in store for dealership attendees, including a new way to segment the over 100 sessions, workshops and case studies that will be presented. We’re grouping education topics into a series of tracks that will cover the gambit of Internet and technology solutions, strategies, best practices and future trends in:
- Digital marketing
- New & Pre-owned sales
- Management
- Reputation & loyalty
- Social Media
- Fixed Operations
- BDC & Telephony
- Data & Analytics
The data and analytics track – ‘big data’ seems to be the topic of the century. A recent article in the Economist suggested that in the last twelve months alone ravenous users stored enough data to fill 60,000 Libraries of Congress. The data revolution is changing the landscape of business.
“Companies that can harness big data will trample data-incompetents. Data equity, to coin a phrase, will become as important as brand equity.”
The automotive industry has always used customer data; I’ve been getting a birthday card from my dealership for years. But now it is much more, the dealerships that are assembling a more detailed picture of their customers – income, buying habits, interests, service history and more – have a serious advantage.
How are you using your slice of big data? What should dealerships be learning about their customers, and how do they best utilize that information to sell and service more units?
