NHTSA investigates Kia Sorento for shattered sunroofs, according to The Detroit News.
Federal regulators said Friday they had opened an investigation into 64,000 Kia Sorento SUVs over complaints the sunroof can shatter unexpectedly.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it has received 15 complaints from 2011-2013 Sorento owners that the optional sunroof shattered without warning — and 13 of the complaints said the incident happened while the vehicle was in motion. One of the complaints reported one injury — minor cuts from the shattered glass.
NHTSA said it has received early warning field data from Kia about the issue.
Kia said in a statement it has been studying the issue.
