PartsEdge Reveals New Framework to Empower Dealership Parts Managers

Published: December 5, 2025

PartsEdge, a provider of parts inventory optimization solutions, has revealed a new diagnostic framework designed to help auto dealerships better understand and support their fixed operations department. The company released its research report, “PartsEdge Success Stories: Taking Parts Management from Good to Great,” which introduces a framework for identifying different types of parts managers.

The new model aims to dismantle the antiquated approach to inventory management by acknowledging that a manager’s specific role, style, and operational environment are critical to departmental success. By categorizing managers into four profiles—the Seasoned Optimizer, the Overloaded Operator, the Parts Protégé, and the Turnaround Artist—the framework provides dealership leaders with a new lens to diagnose inventory challenges and tailor their support strategies.

“Dealerships often diagnose inventory issues without recognizing that the manager’s role and environment heavily shape the outcome,” said Kaylee Felio, Sales & Marketing Director at PartsEdge. “This framework gives leaders a new lens—one that helps them understand the root causes behind inventory struggles. When you match the right support model to the right profile, parts departments improve faster and with far less friction.”

Updating the Inventory Management Process Pays Off

The report is based on an analysis of client outcomes and highlights a few measurable performance improvements. In one case study, a dealership that implemented a tailored strategy saw significant gains within six months. Its productive stock increased by over $40,000, and its active part numbers grew by 43 percent without an increase in total inventory spend. At the same time, the department reduced its excess inventory by more than $17,000 and nearly eliminated obsolete stock, freeing up capital for high-demand parts.

As fixed operations continue to be a primary profit driver for dealerships, the efficiency and financial discipline of the parts department have become essential. The Parts Manager Profile Framework hopes to serve as a tool for leaders to identify the unique needs of their staff, reduce financial risk by improving turnover, and ultimately improve service readiness with smarter inventory coverage.

The Release Also Comes with an Interactive Quiz

To accompany the report, PartsEdge has launched an interactive Parts Manager Profile Quiz. The online assessment allows managers to identify their profile type and receive personalized recommendations for improving their inventory performance.

“Managers deserve systems that meet them where they are,” said Felio. “Our research shows that when you pair the right tools with the right type of manager, performance lifts naturally. That’s the goal—smarter inventory, stronger financials, and less stress on the people running the department.”
